Curiosity Sol 1110 Composite was created by Todd
This is a composite made from two Curiosity right mastcam images taken on sol 1110. I find it unusual how the layered feature at center extends to the ground in a sloped curve. The images were processed from the PDS raw DRCL .img files.

Yes, at first glance I thought they were rover tracks. This is one of those images where you have to make a composite to really see the feature, since the composition of the individual mastcam images places it on the frame edge. It would be interesting to see what else is under those dunes. Then there's this weird feature on top of the embankment.

All the mastcam images from sol 1110 are pretty unique and the materials laying around tend to have two distinctive tones. Here's another example from the right mastcam taken on sol 1110. The "orange" sample looks precariously balanced. This image was processed from the PDS raw DRCL .img file.

Wow! That's a keeper. Thanks!

While initially letting my imagination roam, the orange "precariously balanced" piece looked to me like a broken off piece of a cylindrical piston that appears to have flown through the air and embedded itself in the stone it appears to be balanced on.

After saving the image and then zooming in, I am not so sure it is cylindrical. However, it still appears to me to be a piece of something manufactured and to have flown through the air and embedded itself in the supporting stone.

I can not think of any geological process that could have done this. Maybe a strong volcano. Weather-wise, maybe a tornado. Na-a-a-h. I am going with something manufactured.

Thanks again!

There also looks to be a broken piece of it sitting on the right, if it is, it looks "encased" with an outer material. It could be balancing on what was the center piece.

You let that imagination roam because that is a good comparison .:cheer:

..I am not so sure it is cylindrical.

Yes, it's hard to tell. Perhaps this image will help, I stacked the left mastcam image with it and made a 3d anaglyph. Both images were processed from the PDS raw DRCL .img files.

That does it. I am getting some of those glasses! Otherwise I am just getting eyestrain. Thanks for the post. I downloaded it and when I get some 3D glasses I will give it a closer look.
