I think the object in the bottom image is about as close to the camera as I have seen an artifact and that sure looks like some kind of artifact to me. Nice find, I think eventually, this one will be all over the place.

The second image looks to me like it is a manufactured piece. Perhaps another piece snapped into these grooves. Perhaps these are channels for fluid or wires to run through. Then again, perhaps this is the product of natural processes, though I can't think of what these processes might have been.

I find this part of the feature unusual, it goes against the regular striation of the object, which as you speculated, may be manufactured grooves.

...though I can't think of what these processes might have been.
