A Question About Mars' Oceans was created by ??
In many pictures from the surface of Mars there are thin layers of stuff that appear like stacked pancakes or stacked slices of cheese. Are these layers of manufactured material or are they merely layers of sediment, or both? As sediment requires liquid, in this case water, I am studying and trying to map where oceans may have once been on Mars.

I am starting with the map below that I downloaded off the internet. I am especially interested in possible shorelines. Briefly, does this look correct to you? Please post your comments (and maps) below.

It looks pretty close to the CU-Boulder illustration and the NASA animation, they have more water around the equator. There used to be some detailed chrome maps online 15 or so years ago that were really nice but I can no longer locate them.

CQ this is a great idea. Todd way to jump on it! Richard C. Hoagland on the last other side of midnight I was on had mentioned that those pancakes look more like crushed floors of buildings or something along those lines. Some are rather small but they certainly do take a very even look sometimes and eerily have re-bar looking material sticking out of a lot of them!

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
