HERE WE GO AGAIN.. UFO Observes NASA Curiosity Rover On Mars, Photo Shows Mystery Object In Martian Skyline I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT THIS ONE. IS IT JUST SOME PIXELS, SOMETHING ON THE LENS, SOME DUST, OR A UFO, I DON'T KNOW, BUT IT SURE IS GOT ALOT OF DETAIL AS FAR AS THE SHAPE GOES. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK???

Hi Ben :cheer: I think this happens during the ICER process . It's my understanding that they have lossy or lossless. I believe the ICER process is why the MSL images look like they do and not the actual cameras. The "UFO" is most likely bleeding data loss.

Hi, Todd, how are you. I'm glad to know we have people like you in here with us. I learned a lot I did not know existed aboard the rovers. I downloaded the PDF file on the "ICER" process, and read about the way Image data is handled, and progressive data compression, I never really stopped to think about just how "technically advanced" these rovers really are. after reading about (ICER WAVELET COMPRESSOR) I have a whole different outlook on the way I see our rovers. with the power source (RTG) along with (ICER) it's truly Amazing!!! thank you for all the information about the rovers, and the imaging systems as it explains a lot once understood. thank you Todd. ben...
