For those of you unfamiliar with the term, a “redoubt” is a temporary or supplementary fortification, typically square or polygonal and without flanking defenses.  It is utilized as a stronghold for soldiers in both defensive and offensive encounters. Today’s Context View shows what I believe to be just such a stronghold right in the center of the image.

What caught my eye is the sunlight reflecting off the round portion, which looks a great deal like a tank’s turret.

Moving into the Detail View, it’s interesting to see that the tank analogy holds true: what could be treads are in the proper position and if you look closely, you can see what looks like a gun barrel angling about forty-five degrees to the viewer’s right.

To the immediate right are what appear to be steps. On further consideration however, they bear a striking resemblance to a gun emplacement of the type used with cannon orheavy artillery.

What seems to be a trench lined with protective revetments along the upper perimeter stretches out to the right. Is this indeed some kind of fortified area? The “turret” shows no clear signs of erosion, rust or battle damage and indeed, the sunlight reflects evenly off its smooth surface. If this is all just a trick of light and shadow, it’s a dandy!

SO, HOW DO I VIEW X3D STEREO?”

Simple! While viewing the stereo pair at a comfortable distance, gently cross your eyes (no eye-strain) until you perceive three images all the same width. The one in the center is in 3D. Just relax into it and your eyes will automatically bring it into focus. Once you have it, you will never forget how to do it. Kinda like riding a bicycle…

Continuing with Nev-T’s beautiful PDS gigapan of Sol 1077, today’s Context View reveals more of the debris-littered landscape surrounding Curiosity. Over there in the lower right-hand corner is something that needs a closer look.

In Detail View #1 we see the piece in the center that fairly shouts “Technology”! My immediate impression was that of a pressure containment vessel covered with its various fittings and valves. But start looking around a bit.

Going to the Locator Dots we see in the upper left another pipe emerging from the rocks. And what’s with that semi-circular opening in the rock the main anomaly is resting on? Look at the flanges above the main piece; their shape and orientation also say “technology” to my eyes. In particular, the Locator Dot next to the white piece. See how thick this white thing is? Couple that with the bilaterally-symmetrical shape and the radical difference in color from the surrounding geology and it’s easy enough to arrive at the conclusion that this thing simply doesn’t belong.

Notice the dot in the upper right-hand corner. The piece to the right of it shows two parallel plates, giving the appearance of a pulley or windlass.

Finally, in Detail View #2 we get good and close for a final look. That, my friends, is raw technology!

Located just in front and to the left of the popular “Hex Block” are some structures that quite simply, shouldn’t be there! Even in the Context View, you can clearly see two pipes in the boxed area.

Going to our Detail View, we see that both of these items appear to be made from a yellow metal, perhaps brass? I was trying to be conservative calling these “pipes”, but in truth, they look more like pirate-type old-style black powder cannons! As anyone with a basic knowledge of metals knows, brass would be entirely inappropriate for use in a cannon, as it is far too brittle to handle the forces involved.

So what are they? It doesn’t make sense to utilize brass for pipes either, at least those that handle liquids of any kind. Are they decorative? An embellishment for a building or perhaps, a memorial? As with most other anomalies catalogued by researchers, more questions are created than answered.

BEVELED HEX” by MarsX3D

Nev’s gigapan of Sol 1077 is not only gorgeous; it is replete with any number of intriguing anomalies just awaiting discovery!

Today’s Context View opens open a vast plain, heavily-littered with stones and debris of all kinds. But very obviously over there on the right-hand side we see a lovely – and quite LARGE - hexagonal block, giving off that famous blue tint typical of so many stones and artifacts on Mars.

Going to our Detail View, you can see for yourself that this is mass of stone purposely-shaped into a hexagonal block. The edges are carefully and evenly beveled, the block showing significant battering as it no doubt tumbled into its present position. The shaded side reveals a central disk in bas-relief, indicated by the white arrow. Was this “button” a sort of centering device, locking pillar segments together? Is there a corresponding hollow on the other side?

Once again the opportunity to learn more of this clearly artificial object is ignored! Regardless, the body of evidence has grown into thousands of images which will eventually cause NASA’s cabal-like secrecy to disintegrate.

DRAGON CAVE” by MarsX3D

In my opinion, this is an eye-catching bit of strangeness that needs a closer look. Lying dead center in today’s Context View, the “Dragon” and the unusual shapes are easily-seen.

Let’s move in a bit.

Let your eyes play over the Detail View from left to right. There are too many unusual things going on to list them all, and taken as a whole, they represent what may be a temple or at the very least, some kind of highly-stylized dwelling.

Is that really a dragon carved in bas-relief over the cave’s entrance? Probably not. But having spent time in Mexico at the various ruins including Teotihuacan, the ever-present snake motif in Mayan, Toltec and Aztec archaeology seems a pretty good match for what we observe here. The stylized snake or Quetzalcoatl head adorning the various pyramids and temples begs the question, “Was there a Martian influence or even ORIGIN to these strange and violent cultures?”

When such carvings as these finally become accessible to exo-archaeologists, answers will be found, correlations will be drawn and hopefully, history will be revised to reflect the ever-growing body of new evidence!

There have been any number of tools or tool-like objects found on Mars. In today’s Context View, follow the arrow to see what looks like a crescent wrench lying under a rock.

Zooming in, the Detail View shows us what certainly looks like a crescent wrench! Just to the right of it we see what looks like either a wheel or circular piece of metal. Is the strip behind it part of the crescent wrench, part of the “wheel” or something else altogether.

We’ll never know of course. NASA just isn’t interested.
