Treasure Hunters Plan to Confirm their Find with Scientific Answers
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – 8/9/2011- On June 19th the Swedish-based diving company Ocean Explorer discovered something they’ve never quite seen before. They were exploring in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland looking for sunken treasures when a very unusual image suddenly appeared on the sonar. A 197 feet diameter cylinder shaped object was discovered at the depth of approximately 275 feet. Treasure hunters, Peter Lindberg, Dennis Aasberg are in the midst of planning for their next excursion; to find out what’s there, and how it ended up in the Baltic Sea. Ocean Explorer’s Operation Baltic Discovery will unveil what people around the world are waiting to find out- What’s really there?
“We need to know what we’ve found. Media has been speculating about everything from UFOs to Russian space ships. What we know at this point is its size and shape and we also know, based upon the sonar image, that there is a ridged tail going from or to the cylinder shaped anomaly of about 1 600 feet throughout the bottom of the sea,”said Peter Lindberg, one of the professionals at Ocean Explorer.
“We cannot tell when it was placed in the Baltic Sea, if the object was dumped into the sea or if it’s a natural phenomenon,” continues Mr.Lindberg.Ocean Explorer is currently accepting in-kind donations and corporate sponsors to complete Operation Baltic Discovery. “We are determined to successfully complete our mission of finding out what’s at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Because of the sea depth, it is a risky operation that requires a lot of planning, strategy and financial resources,” said Dennis Aasberg, one of the three professionals at Ocean Explorer in Stockholm, Sweden.

Treasure hunters confirm they have found something abnormal in the seabed
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 15, 2012
The Ocean X Team dove down to the circle-shaped object in the Baltic Sea and met something they never experienced before. First they thought it was just stone or a rock cliff, but after further observations the object appeared more as a huge mushroom, rising 3-4 meters/10-13 feet from the seabed, with rounded sides and rugged edges. The object had an egg shaped hole leading into it from the top, as an opening. On top of the object they also found strange stone circle formations, almost looking like small fireplaces. The stones were covered in something resembling soot.
“During my 20-year diving career, including 6000 dives, I have never seen anything like this. Normally stones don’t burn. I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions “, says Stefan Hogeborn, one of the divers at Ocean X Team.
The path to the object itself can be described as a runway or a downhill path that is flattened at the seabed with the object at the end of it.
“First we thought this was only stone, but this is something else. And since no volcanic activity has ever been reported in the Baltic Sea the find becomes even stranger. As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver“, continues Peter Lindberg, one of the founder Ocean X Team.

Peter Lindberg drew a picture to explain the question how the circular object is attached to its foundation.
“During the last expedition it was confirmed that there is a wedge formed gap between the upper part (the circle) and the lower part (foundation/pillar). However, if the two parts are completely sepparated or if the upper part and the lower part are the same object has not been clarified“.

The s/s Astrid expedition
During one of Ocean X Team’s expeditions in the summer of 2012 the wreck of s/s Astrid was found in international waters. Astrid was built in 1872 in England as the yacht Saga, she changed owner a few times before ending up in Sweden to serve as a freighter. She was 34 meters long and 6.5 meters wide and was propelled by a 150 HP steam engine. It was during a trip between Stockholm and Rauma in Finland on 11 September 1916 thatAstrid finally met her final fate. She was discovered by the German submarine U 22 (which incidentally was the same sub that sunk the ship Jönköping which carried the famous champagne load, salvaged in 1997/98). Astrid was stopped by U 22 and the German captain decided after been reading the freight documents that Astrid brought contraband in her cargo and therefore they had to sink her. After Astrid’s crew, which consisted of 10 men and two women, had entered the two life rafts the submarine opened fire with its deck gun. 16 shells were fired in total and after the first shell the boiler blow into the air with the result that the superstructure was razed completely. Fire broke out and at 13:40 in the afternoon she sunk and would not been seen again for 96 years. Astrid’s life rafts with her crew were towed towards the Finnish coast by U 22. They were however left some 10 nautical miles off the Finnish coast and had to row the final distance before reaching land.
Dives has been performed with both divers and robots to a depth between 65-58 meters. Astrid is very badly damaged due to the fire and the damages caused by the gun fire. Among other things, most of the bottles of port wine that was in her hold were shattered and the divers had to dig through broken glass to find the rare whole bottles. Despite this, the Ocean X Team’s expedition could shoot some unique pictures and video sequences of a long-forgotten ship.

It has been a turbulent time for us since January. It started with two different Hollywood based production companies who wanted us to sign with just them! We decided to sign with one of them and suddenly we had a talent agreement with a mega big media company. Everything looked good and we had real high hopes for this season. But… The big media companies work on an other schedule than wreck hunters operating in the Baltic. We had to think abou…t the short season while the Hollywood company had to think about to sell the production before going ahead with us, which takes time, like next year time! We felt that we could not wait any longer so in the end of June we kindly asked them to terminate the agreement between us which they did.
We have now a new thing going on with an other production Company.
We are confident that this new reality TV series will be among the best that have been produced for TV Worldwide.

Everything will be featured, frustration, anger, pain and happiness in the hunt for the treasures. An adventure that you will never forget on TV
